Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?
Yes. Sonja is completely free to use — including the auction. We charge no fees or commission from you as the seller.
How does Sonja make money?
We charge a fee from the buying dealer when the auction ends in a sale. You as the seller pay nothing.
Will I get the same price as selling privately?
The auction lets several dealers compete for your car. A private sale can look higher on paper, but you handle inquiries, viewings and 2 years of warranty liability. With Sonja you choose whether to accept the highest bid — at no cost if you decline.
How is the price set?
Dealers compete in a time-limited auction. They bid from your photos and self-declaration — so quality and honesty matter. You choose whether to accept the highest bid.
What happens after I submit?
You prepare the car with photos and a few condition questions. We quality-check and help if anything is missing. When the listing is ready, the auction starts and ends the same day — normally at 09:00. You choose whether to accept. No obligation along the way.
What if I disagree with the highest bid?
You can decline the highest bid at no cost. The auction then ends without a sale — no obligation to sell.
Do I have warranty liability after the sale?
No. When you sell to a dealer through Sonja, the dealer takes over warranty liability. You confirm that the information in the self-declaration is correct — material errors or omitted information can still give the buyer rights under the Sale of Goods Act.
Which cars can I list?
Most passenger cars. Get in touch even if you are unsure — we help you assess whether the car fits an auction.
How long does the process take?
Preparation takes as long as you need. When the listing is ready, the auction starts and ends the same day — normally at 09:00. Then you decide whether to accept.
Does the car need a NAF test?
No. Your photos and honest answers are the documentation. We quality-check everything before the auction.
